When I design a fabric pattern for my dresses they always mean something to me. For a long long time I only dressed in dark colors- I rarely expressed myself through clothing because I was always self-conscious of my body.
When I was younger, I was always told black would cover my imperfections and “slim” me. If you would have opened my closet a few years back you would have found an array of black everything.
But something happened to me. Something clicked in my head. Whyyyyy do I have to be limited to one color because I’m shaped differently? Why can’t I express the vibrance of my personality through my clothing? Is society really so oppressive to women like me? And if so, how do I change it?
I had wanted a plaid dress for a crazy long time but not a generic or traditional plaid. A close friend of mine is Scottish and plaid is a THING for Scots. Each color in a plaid is supposed to be significant and have a meaning.
So when designing my plaid it was imperative that each color meant defiance of the societal pressures it has placed not only on me, but every woman like me. Who the hell said we only looked good in ONE color? BUNK THAT!
This plaid had to have EVERY color in it, and you better believe it came out fine as heck
Recently, I went to an office party (at my normal people job, cuz ya girl over here is a broke mama) and I had a woman sit next to me and say:
“You know, I’m normally very shy and don’t approach people but as soon as I walked into the room and saw your dress I instantly thought 🙌WOW!🙌” (she literally put her hands up hehe)
The best part? I didn’t have to compromise any part of my modesty to get that compliment. Now what society? Taste this color spectrum! BAM💥
THIS NUMBER IN A NUTSHELL
This is the last design of 2019. To say this plaid is a burst of color would be an understatement. Each tiny square is made up of different tones of bright colors. The dress is cut in a signature vintage style. Panels Compose the dress with the plaid arranged in different angles for a dramatic and flattering effect. It is fully lined throughout for added modesty. Hidden zip on back. Made from an allergy friendly crepe chiffon blend. It is perfect for any season. Plaid print is custom made by me so it is an exclusive design not found anywhere else. Each dress is unique and like a piece of art. I treat them as if they were collectors items. Once they’re gone- they’re gone!
